Jury Takes Time to Deliberate during Murder Case
The jury is not out yet in the murder trial involving one teen who stands accused of brutally killing his classmate in Ventura County, California.
Starting early Monday morning, the panel of jurors has been behind closed doors discussing the death of a 15-year-old male who was known as being a homosexual. Police say that the victim's sexual orientation was the reason that the suspect chose to murder him while they were both inside a local high school. After weeks of listening to damaging testimony against the suspect, many legal experts believed that the jury would come to a quick decision.
Although the murder took place three years ago, the case was finally tried after some setbacks. The legal matter was originally slated to be heard in Ventura County, but due to pre-trial publicity, the defendant's legal team argued that it should be moved to Los Angeles County. Should the young man be convicted of all the charges against him, he could spend an excess of 50 years behind bars.
