Former Baseball Player Arrested for Domestic Violence
A retired baseball star has been charged with one count of domestic violence. The baseball player's wife contacted the police after the couple got into an argument and the baseball star allegedly slapped her across the face. According to the wife, the hit was hard enough that it caused her to also hit her head against their bed's headboard.
The wife told authorities that she was afraid the situation would become more serious, though the baseball player maintains that he did not strike his wife. A judge has set bail at $2,500 on a charge of domestic battery. The player has also been ordered to have no direct contact with his wife until the case is settled. It is currently unclear whether the player will post bail or remain in jail.
This player ran into trouble in 2009 when he tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs. The baseball star tested positive again in 2011 and decided to retire instead of facing the required 100 game suspension for a second violation.
