Sting Leads to 19 Arrests
An anti-gang sting conducted at a Venice tattoo parlor netted 19 arrests for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agency.
Nicknamed "Operation Villainz Ink", members of the infamous Venice 13 gang were the intended targets of this raid. Members of this gang, which rules predominantly in Venice and Culver City, have been known to congregate in the tattoo parlor. However, they were not always there to get inked up, but to sell illegal narcotics as well as violate firearms laws. One of the men arrested during the raid has been charged with selling a firearm to an undercover ATF agent.
The raid is the result of a four-month investigation conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department and the ATF. These two agencies were aided by the efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration, LA County probation officers, state Corrections officials and the Inglewood Police Department.
