80 Gang Members Arrested in L.A.
An announcement made by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security stated that 80 members of Los Angeles gangs were arrested this month.
Those arrested were part of the Rancho San Pedro gang that dates back to the 1970s. Law enforcement officials have documented 600 known gang members, along with 400 gang affiliates, most of whom are still at large. According to Claude Arnold, the special agent in charge of ICE Homeland Security Investigations in Los Angeles: "This operation has dealt a major blow to one of the largest, most dangerous street gangs in the San Pedro area."
This massive arrest spree concludes a three-year investigation into various gang crimes that have occurred in and around the San Pedro area. It involved 1,300 law enforcement officers from various agencies, collaborating to bring in the 80 suspects this month.
