Agents Crack Down on Gang

Unbeknownst to the residents of the Southland 800 state, local and federal agents met at 80 locations to crack down on Armenian organized crime.

This crackdown has been in the works for a long time and, as a result of hard work, officers were able to arrest scores of suspects. They converged on one home in Encino to look for evidence of racketeering by the known gang Armenian Power. From the evidence they collected officials have now named 88 individuals in two federal indictments. Their crimes range from kidnapping to identity theft to extortion.

One of their known rackets was targeting customers of 99 Centers Only stores. Some customers of these stores found that, months later, their accounts had been drained as a result of skimming devices that had been installed in five stores.

This group is also being accused of weapons and narcotics sales.

Over a span of just a few hours 74 suspects were arrested. These could also be members of the Mexican Mafia with whom Armenian Power recently merged with to widen its network of crime.

Officials believe that as much as $20 million has been obtained by this group in Orange and Los Angeles Counties alone.
