Officers Finally Close Cold Case
Like a scene from a popular crime fighting show, officers from a police department in Los Angeles, California were proud to announce the conclusion of a cold case from 1973.
By using modern technology and techniques to re-examine the murder of a 52-year-old male in Los Angeles, officers were finally able to charge the man they now think is responsible for the incident.
Police say the victim was found stabbed to death in his own home in 1973, but officers were never able to conclusively determine who the suspect was. By matching DNA evidence from that crime scene to the suspect's, who is now 62-years-old, officers knew that they finally had their man.
Based on the evidence, officers collaborated with law enforcement in Delaware, Ohio to arrest the man in his home there. Since the murder happened in California, the suspect is now waiting to be extradited to that state to stand trial later this year.
