Last Suspect in Gang Rape Case Apprehended
The community of Moreno Valley feels relieved now that the last suspect in a gang rape was apprehended this weekend.
The young man, 19-year-old Michael Sykes, was taken into custody on Monday by investigators in connection to the rape of an 11 year old girl. Sadly this young girl was lured into a park restroom by an older girl to be raped by several juveniles. However, Sykes is the only one being charged as an adult.
Although he has no prior criminal record Sykes is believed to be part of a gang in the area. Investigators believe that while he did participate in the sexual assault he may not have led it. The girl who led the victim into the restroom is also believed to be part of a gang. Police are not releasing the identities of the suspects or victims as they are all minors; however, since they are all over 14 years old, they could be charged as adults.
