3 UCLA Freshman Charged with Burglary

Last week, three incoming UCLA freshman football players were arrested by local law enforcement.  Police say the players were facing charges of burglary after they stole the purse of another student.

UCLA Police Sergeant Paul Stewart said, "UCLA police officers responded to a call of theft suspects in the UCLA Hendrick Hall dining area, adjacent to the lockers used for storing belongings while dining."  He then said that the individuals (Paul Richardson, Shaquille Richardson and Josh Shirley) were taken into police custody for felony burglary.

Sports department officials and coaches for the Bruins were not available for comment on the incident.  However, Athletics spokesman Marc Dellins told news sources that the school was "aware of the situation and we are looking into it ... We will have a comment at the appropriate time."

Both Paul Richardson and Shaquille Richardson were released after paying $20,000 bail.  Josh Shirley was released from police custody without having to pay bail.  All three men had been taking summer classes at the campus, which is located in Westwood, California.
