Recently, Riverside County authorities arrested the second of two men sought in a 2007 murder case. It is believed that the case involved a murder-for-hire and was connected to the Mexican drug cartel.
The district attorney's office told news sources that 27 year old Guadalupe Cuevas was arrested near his residence in Los Angeles. Prior to the arrest of Cuevas, 42 year old Mario Vidal Ponce was taken into police custody outside of his Moreno Valley home.
Three years ago, police found the body of Armando Fierro near Perris. Both Cuevas and Ponce are believed to be connected to Fierro's death and have been charged with murder and conspiracy.
Prosecutors report that Fierro's brother, Jose, was supposed to be the target of the murder-for-hire. Police say that Ponce thought Jose Fierro was involved in the killing of one of Ponce's associates who was related to a Mexican drug cartel leader and he wanted to retaliate.
