Prosecutors have announced that they charged a veteran Long Beach police officer with over a dozen felony counts. Prior to being charged, it was alleged that 32-year-old Damian Ramos stole weapons that have been turned over to the police department by local businesses.
In response to his charges, Ramos pled not guilty. He was charged with four counts of grand theft of personal property, grand theft of a firearm and embezzlement by a police officer and one count of possession of an assault weapon.
If Ramos is convicted for all of the felony offenses, he will face a maximum of more than eight years in state prison. At this time, he has been suspended from the department without pay pending the outcome of his criminal case and his bail has been set at $100,000.
