Paris Hilton's Felony Reduced to Two Misdemeanors
News sources report that Paris Hilton's original felony drug possession charge has been lowered to two misdemeanor counts, including drug possession and obstructing an officer. Hilton will have to serve one year of probation, perform 200 hours of community service and pay a $2000 fine for her offenses. Earlier, Hilton was arrested by police officers in Las Vegas while driving.
According to authorities, had the offense remained a felony, Hilton would not have had to serve time in jail for drug possession. However, if she is arrested during her probation period, she may be sentenced to a year in Nevada jail.
Clark County District Attorney David Roger said, "If she is arrested for anything besides a minor traffic violation she will spend a year in jail."
Hilton's obstruction an officer charge resulted from the hotel heiress telling police that the cocaine in her purse did not belong to her.
