Woman Leads CHP Officers on High Speed Chase
This past week, a 27-year-old woman was held on a felony evading charge after she led police officers on a high-speed chase from Oxnard to Orange County.
Allegedly, Victoria Powell reached speeds that exceeded 100 mph while officers from the California Highway Patrol followed her to the home of a relative in North Tustin. Once at the relative's home, she was placed under arrest by authorities.
At first, deputies from the Ventura County sheriff's department tried to pull the car over for speeding. However, instead of stopping for officer, Powell led CHP officers on a chase on the 5 Freeway.
Police say they are investigating the motive for the chase and that as of Friday, Powell was held in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
