Woman Pleads Guilty to Murder of Juliana Redding
In Los Angeles, Kelly Soo Park pled guilty to the murder of Juliana Redding. In 2008, Redding was found beaten and murdered in her upscale Santa Monica apartment.
During Park's hearing, it was revealed that the judge froze the bank accounts of three people that were connected to Park, including her mother and a man who was involved in a business deal with the victim's father. Kay Rackauckas, Park's lawyer, said that the accounts were connected to her client. However, she said she was not sure why the accounts were frozen.
Rackauckas told a newspaper, ""I don't know why they froze them…It's all a big secret." Investigators have claim that Park was paid $250,000 three weeks before the murder took place. They also said that her family was given an additional $113,400 days before Park was arrested by police.
Prosecutors believe that the money came from Park's employer, Dr. Munir Uwaydah, a Marina del Rey physician that had been involved in a failed business deal with the victim's father, Greg Redding.
Prosecutors also requested that Park's bail amount be raised from $1 million to $5 million. The judge will decide on that motion on July 20, 2010.
